Imagine this: you settle down for a night of binge‑watching, press play, and the little blue screen flickers off because your Roku insists it can’t see the Wi‑Fi. It’s a tiny frustration that can feel huge, but learning why it happens turns a moment of panic into a quick, fun fix.
Most of the time the culprit is a simple clash between your router and the streaming device. A wrong network name, a temporary router hiccup, or a hidden signal can stop the Roku from joining the party and keep spirits high, all.
Consider a hallway that’s riddled with metal piping or a microwave humming nearby—these are real‑world interferences that can silence signal. Even an outdated firmware on the Roku can act like a stubborn gatekeeper, refusing a brand‑new router.

Start with the obvious: power everything off, then reboot the Roku and your router. While they’re restarting, double‑check that you’re typing the exact network name and password—capital letters and symbols matter!
If the reboot doesn’t work, lift the Roku 2–3 feet higher or move it away from walls; a clearer line of sight often revives the signal. Next, update the Roku software and, if needed, set DHCP to auto‑assign an address so the device can snag a fresh IP.
