Glass blocks are among the most popular decorative materials in Minecraft, loved for their clean aesthetic and versatility. Whether you're building a modern house, a greenhouse, or a skyscraper with floor-to-ceiling windows, glass allows light to pour in while keeping your build looking sleek and polished. Players value glass blocks because they transform ordinary structures into visually stunning creations.
The key purpose of a glass block is to provide transparency without sacrificing protection. Unlike other thin blocks, glass is a solid block that mobs cannot pass through, making it perfect for windows near hostile creatures. In everyday gameplay, players often use it to create living rooms with scenic views, overlook towers, or even separate rooms while maintaining an open feel.
To start making glass, you first need sand. Sand can be found in deserts, beaches, and riverbeds. Gather at least eight blocks of sand, then find or build a furnace. Place the sand in the top slot of the furnace and fuel (such as coal or wooden planks) in the bottom slot. After a brief smelting process, you'll receive glass blocks ready for use.
