So you heard Vybz Kartel is chilling in Florida, right? Maybe sipping a mojito on South Beach, maybe catching a movie in Orlando? Buckle up, buttercup, because this particular rabbit hole is going to be a wild ride.
The short answer? No, Vybz Kartel does not live in Florida. Not Jacksonville, not Miami, not even the weird place near Ocala where the internet starts buffering like it's 2004. The man has never packed his bags for the Sunshine State.
But Where IS He, Then?
Here's where it gets real. Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, has been locked up in a Jamaican prison since 2011 following a murder conviction. Yep, he's been doing hard time in Jamaica while the rest of us argue on the internet about pineapple on pizza.

The Jamaican courts sentenced him to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 35 years. So unless there's a secret tunnel from Kingston to Key West, he's definitely not picking oranges in Poinciana.
Why Does Everyone Think He's in Florida?
Rumors are a beautiful, chaotic thing, aren't they? People online love to speculate that he's either in a Dade County penthouse or driving a pickup truck to a Publix in Tampa. The truth is, nobody actually knows why this rumor stuck like gum on a subway seat.

Part of the confusion might come from Vybz Kartel's enormous fanbase in Florida. Took America by storm with millions of streams, merchandise sales, and a Social Life Music empire stretching across Caribbean communities in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. He's popular there, sure, but popularity doesn't equal a Florida zip code.
Interesting Vybz Kartel Facts Hiding in Nice
While he's been locked away, Vybz Kartel has actually released a staggering amount of music. We're talking thousands upon thousands of songs through smuggled phone calls and outside collaborators. Think of him as a one-man Spotify playlist that accidentally keeps growing in a prison cell.

His looks also changed dramatically in prison. He lost significant weight, changed his appearance, and even released Polaroid-style selfies that broke the internet. Nobody came. Some fans swore the transformation made him look like a completely different person.
So Let's Settle This Once and For All
Vybz Kartel does not live in Florida, lives in Jamaica, or lives anywhere realistically free as of right now. He's behind bars, making music, and running circles around the music industry from a correctional facility. Honestly, that's more impressive than anything any of us have accomplished this week.

Next time someone tells you they spotted him at a Wawa in Orlando, just smile, nod politely, and change the subject. The rumor mill keeps spinning, but the facts say otherwise, and facts, as irritating as they sometimes are, simply don't bend to viral posts.
Now if someone could find my car keys, that would be a much more urgent missing-person situation. But we'll leave that mystery for another café conversation.
