Welcome to the ultimate guide on how to escape the mysterious End City and slide back into the bright, familiar Overworld! Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a curious newcomer, this little road‑trip makes the journey feel like a fun treasure hunt. It’s quick, reliable, and cuts out the stress of wandering endless end‑stone corridors.
First, locate the portal frame you’ll find at the far end of the city. It’s a ring of obsidian with a few eyes of ender already placed. The purpose of this portal is simple: it shuttles you straight back to the Overworld, giving you a fresh start without extra build‑up.
To activate it, place one more eye of ender into the empty slot. You’ll see a swirl of particles and hear a soft hum—that’s the sign the portal is ready. If you’re short on eyes, a quick raid on a nearby enderman can usually yield a spare.

Now the fun part: step through the gateway. Because the portal’s destination is random, you may land near a village, a jungle, or even a desert. Think of it as a surprise travel package—each dip can bring new resources, like wood, ores, or rare plants you can use right away.
Pro tip: Before you jump, clear a 3×3 area of ender pearl debris and make sure your inventory isn’t overloaded. A tidy space reduces the chance of “stuck‑in‑the‑portal” bugs. Also, keep a torch handy so you can light up the landing spot instantly.

If you ever get stuck or the portal glitches, try the fallback method: mine a block of obsidian, place it back to restart the frame, and repeat the activation. It’s a simple reset that just about every player can do in a few seconds, saving you from an endless end‑city loop.
Ready for your next expedition? Grab a few eyes, aim for that obsidian ring, and let the portal whisk you home. With these straightforward steps, returning to the Overworld is as easy as walking through a door—and you’ll be back to building farms, exploring caves, and planning your next adventure in under a minute.
