Skye’s suicide is not a random twist; it serves the film’s central theme of contagious dread. In the scene she presses a razor blade against her throat while delivering a chilling smile, a visual echo of the film’s opening hook. This moment ties her personal trauma to the overarching curse.
For audiences, the payoff is twofold: it deepens Skye’s arc from a hopeful friend to a tragic victim, and it reinforces the movie’s rule that any visible smile can trigger the cursed entity.
