Okay, so imagine this: you already love the classic animated tale from 1991. Then Disney drops a live-action version that completely blows your mind. That's exactly what happened with Beauty and the Beast 2017. And honestly? It's a wild ride worth talking about.
Belle Meets the Beast — But Live
Emma Watson plays Belle. Yes, the Hermione girl herself. She somehow makes Belle feel even more relatable and determined than before.
The Beast is played by Dan Stevens, who is mostly CGI in a motion-capture suit. Imagine doing hours of filming while wearing a high-tech grey suit covered in tracking dots. Somehow Dan still brings serious emotional weight to the role.

An Enchanted Castle Full of Characters
The enchanted objects are now voice actors you'd totally recognize. Ewan McGregor voices Lumiere, and Ian McKellen plays Cogsworth. The bickering between those two is genuinely hilarious — like two old roommates who can't stand each other.
Kevin Kline plays Maurice, Belle's dad, and he brings a lovely warmth to the character. Audra McDonald sings "How Does a Moment Last Forever" and honestly, it gave me goosebumps.
Review: Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (2017) Starring Emma Watson, Dan
Strange Facts You Might Not Know
Here's something quirky: the movie earned over $1.26 billion at the box office. It became one of the highest-grossing films of 2017 worldwide. Disney was basically printing money from this one.
Beyoncé and John Legend recorded the iconic "Beauty and the Beast" theme for the film. The original song from 1991 still plays during the end credits though. They knew not to mess with perfection too much.
Emma Watson lost her voice during production, so Lily James actually did some singing for her character. That's not something you hear every day on a major Hollywood set.
