Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and you know what that means — time to honor the heroes who've served our country and grab your favorite snacks for a perfect movie marathon. Whether you're a history buff, a patriot, or just someone who loves a good story, this holiday is the ideal excuse to press play on something meaningful. So, let's dive into some of the best flicks to watch this Memorial Day!
Classic War Epics That Make You Feel Everything
Okay, let's start with the granddaddy of battle films — Saving Private Ryan. That opening Normandy scene? Still one of the most intense things you will ever witness on screen, and it truly reminds us of the sacrifices real soldiers made. If this one doesn't stir your soul, I don't know what will!
Then, pair it with Dunkirk for a visually stunning experience that puts you right in the middle of wartime chaos. Nolan somehow turns waiting for rescue boats into a nail-biter movie — impressive, right? You will be on the edge of your couch the entire time.

Heartfelt Stories About Real Heroes
Looking for something a little more emotional? Hacksaw Ridge will absolutely wreck you — in the best way possible. It tells the incredible true story of Desmond Doss, a medic who saved 75 soldiers without ever firing a single bullet, and honestly, you will want to applaud through your tears.
Letter from Iwo Jima offers a powerful, lesser-known perspective on World War II that will truly make you think. It reminds us that war affects everyone involved, no matter which side they're on. Deep stuff? Absolutely. Worth watching? 100%.

Need something lighter but still inspiring? Bridge of Spies brings Cold War tension with Tom Hanks at his smoothest — seriously, the man is magnetic here. It is espionage done right, with just enough humor to keep things breathing.
Hidden Figures celebrates the unsung heroes of NASA and will leave you feeling unstoppable. Because sometimes the best tribute to our country is celebrating the pioneers who pushed boundaries. Grab tissues and prepare to feel motivated for days.

Not every Memorial Day pick has to be a tearjerker — Top Gun is pure adrenaline-pumping fun with a heart of gold. Put it on, crank the volume, and let Maverick remind you that courage always takes flight (see what I did there?). Even if you've seen it a dozen times, it never gets old.
And for the whole family, A Beautiful Mind is a fascinating pick that blends history, genius, and resilience into a genuinely wonderful ride. My point is, Memorial Day movies don't have to be all doom and gloom to carry real meaning.
