You know that moment when you’re scrolling through Netflix and you see a familiar face, and you think, “Wait, didn’t he just get his driver’s license?” That’s the Finn Wolfhard effect. He’s been in our living rooms for years, but his age story is one of those delightful little puzzles that fans love to piece together.
So, how old is Finn Wolfhard, really? As of 2025, he’s 22 years old, born on December 23, 2002. That means he’s a Capricorn with a birthday just before Christmas, which honestly explains a lot about his grounded, slightly old-soul vibe.
The Baby of the Stranger Things Gang
When Stranger Things first hit in 2016, Finn was just 13. That’s the age when most of us were worried about school projects and video games, not battling demogorgons. It’s wild to think that the same kid who rode a bike through Hawkins is now legal to rent a car—though I’m not sure his On-Stage character would approve.
Must Read
His age jump from season to season mirrors our own lives. We grew up with Mike Wheeler, and suddenly we blinked, and he’s leading a rock band (The Aubreys) and starring in horror comedies like The Turning. It’s like watching your little cousin turn into a grown-up before your eyes.
Why Does His Age Even Matter?
Here’s the heart of it: Finn Wolfhard’s age is a time capsule for a generation. If you’re a millennial or Gen Z, you remember exactly where you were when you first saw him as Richie Tozier in It. He was 14, and you probably felt ancient. Now he’s 22, and suddenly you’re the one thinking, “Wow, I really need to moisturize more.”
Finn Wolfhard Age & Biography: Career, Net Worth & More
It’s not just about the number. It’s about the relatable milestone moments. He went from being a kid who couldn’t drive in Stranger Things to playing a ghost hunter in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. That’s the same span of time it takes you to finish college, move apartments, or finally learn how to cook pasta without setting off the fire alarm.
The “He’s Still Young” Comfort
Sometimes, when you see a famous person hit 22, you feel a little pang. But with Finn, it’s comforting. He’s proof that you can achieve big things before you even have a fully developed prefrontal cortex. It makes you look at your own 22-year-old self—or the 22-year-old in your life—and think, “Okay, maybe it’s okay that I’m still figuring things out.”

He’s also a great example of aging in public without losing your charm. His voice dropped, his style evolved, but he still has that same goofy smile from the first episode of Stranger Things. That’s not just age; that’s character.
So, What’s Next for Finn?
At 22, Finn Wolfhard is at that sweet spot where he can play a high schooler (thanks, baby face) or a young adult. It’s the ultimate acting superpower. He’s got decades of potential ahead, and we get to watch him grow—again. It’s like a second season for us, the audience.
Next time you see him on screen, remember: he’s the same age as your neighbor’s kid who just got a real job. It’s a little weird, a little wonderful, and honestly, it makes you feel connected to the story. That’s the magic of following someone’s age story—it reminds us all that time moves forward, but the best parts of us stick around.
