How Old Is Robert De Niro Now

Welcome to the most stress-free quiz of the day: figuring out how old the legendary Robert De Niro is. It’s a fun little brain workout, because his age always feels like a surprise—is he still the young taxi driver, or the wise patriarch? Knowing his current age helps you appreciate his incredible range, from fiery youth in the 1970s to his recent comedic turns in films like The Irishman or About My Father. The advantage? You’ll never mix up movie timelines again!

So, how old is Robert De Niro right now? As of 2025, the two-time Oscar winner is 81 years old. He was born on August 17, 1943, in New York City. That means he’s been lighting up screens for over six decades—a span that covers everything from gritty crime dramas to hilarious dad roles. Isn’t it wild to think he was only 31 when he played the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part II?

Let’s play with some creative perspective. At 81, De Niro has lived through five decades of cinematic history. Imagine: when he was your age, he might have been filming Raging Bull (age 37) or The Deer Hunter (age 35). Today, he’s still acting and producing, with projects like Ezra and Killers of the Flower Moon. His age is a living timeline of Hollywood’s evolution.

For fans, here’s a practical tip: if you want to track his career milestones, subtract his birth year from the film’s release year. For example, in Taxi Driver (1976), he was just 33. In Silver Linings Playbook (2012), he was 69. It’s a fun way to connect his personal age to his character’s energy.
