How Old Is Melba Moore Now ◆ Pattrn Workspace

Let’s talk about Melba Moore. She’s a force of nature. She is timeless.

So, how old is Melba Moore now? As of today, she is 78 years old. She was born on October 29, 1945. That makes her a fiery Scorpio.

Wait, 78?

Yes, 78! And she still sings like she’s 25. Her voice hasn’t aged a day.

It’s almost unfair. Most of us are tired by 3 PM. Melba is out there hitting high notes.

She didn’t just appear out of nowhere. Melba burst onto the scene in 1970. She won a Tony Award for Purlie.

That was over 50 years ago. Fifty years! She was the first Black woman to win a Tony for Best Featured Actress.

And she didn't stop there. She flipped the script and crushed the disco era.

You know that song “This Is It”? Yeah, that’s her. It’s a banger. It still gets played at weddings and retro parties.

She hit the charts in the 1970s and 1980s. She outlasted the disco ball. That takes serious chops.

Fun fact: she also voiced a character on The Smurfs. Yes, the tiny blue cartoons.

Ready for this? She played Aunt Em in The Wiz on Broadway. Later, she played the Wicked Witch in a different production.

She played both! Good and evil. That’s range.

And she’s still doing it. At 78, she’s still touring and recording. Her energy is infectious.

She says it’s about love and gratitude. And maybe some good genes. I’m guessing it’s also a lot of hard work.

She still performs with the same fire she had in 1970. She doesn’t slow down. She just keeps going.

It’s honestly kind of inspiring. She makes 78 look like a warm-up.

Born 1945. Current year 2025. That’s 78 years of pure star power.

She was a Tony winner. A Grammy nominee. A disco diva. A voice actress. She’s done it all.

And she’s still here. Still singing. Still twirling. Still Melba.

Talking about a legend’s age feels like a party trick. You say “78” and people gasp. They think you’re kidding.

Then you play “Lean on Me” (her duet with Freddie Jackson). Instant nostalgia. Everyone smiles.

Age is just a number, sure. But Melba’s number is a flex. It’s a badge of honor.

Melba Moore is 78 years old. And she’s probably more interesting than you and me combined. That’s not a diss. It’s a compliment.

She proved that the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today all belong to her. Time is no match for her talent.

So next time you’re feeling old, remember her. She’s out there, microphone in hand, showing us how it’s done.

78. Glorious. Unstoppable. Now go listen to “This Is It.” You’ll thank me.
